TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

NOTICE IS HEREBY given that on April 24th, 2024, at 9:00 A.M., the BOARD OF EQUALIZATION OF REAL ESTATE ASSESSMENTS OF ARLINGTON COUNTY, VIRGINIA, will hold a virtual organizational meeting.

- The meeting will be open to virtual attendance by the public and closed to in person attendance.

- Commission members and staff will be hosted by teleconference/videoconference via Microsoft Teams.

- The meeting can be viewed on YouTube with closed captioned after it’s uploaded.

- A recording of the meeting will be posted to the BOE webpage 2 business days after the meeting.

This meeting will be held through electronic communication means. In-person registration will not be available.

Comments received by 4PM the day before the hearing will be provided to the Commission in advance of the public hearing by the BOE Staff.

Hearings to review complaints of assessment inequalities, including errors in acreage, will be held by appointment thereafter on the dates as designated by the chairman.

The Board shall hear and consider such complaints and equalize such assessments and shall moreover be charged with the special duty of increasing as well as decreasing assessments, whether specific complaint be made or not, if in its judgment the same be necessary to equalize and accomplish the end that the burden of taxation shall rest equally upon all citizens of Arlington County. This, therefore, is to notify all whom it may concern, and all such persons who have complaints of inequalities in the assessments of their real estate (after filing an appeal on forms furnished by the Department of Real Estate Assessments) to appear before the said Board at the TIME AND PLACE DESIGNATED BY THE BOARD OF EQUALIZATION to assert and present to said Board their respective complaints.

Persons who do not have complaints as to the inequalities or errors in the assessments of their real estate need to give no further heed to this notice. A copy of this notice shall be published at least 10 days beforehand by publication in a newspaper having general circulation in Arlington County; also, by posting the notice at the courthouse and each voting precinct by the Sheriff of Arlington County or his deputy.
