ORDER

Pending before the Court is Plaintiff’s Motion for Alternative Service filed on February 18, 2025. Plaintiff requests that this Court authorize it to serve Defendant Bobo and all other persons having or claiming to have an interest in property described as 210 Oakwood SE, Unit 102 and S-32 (“Property”), by publication in accordance with D.C. Code § 13-336.

The District of Columbia authorizes a plaintiff to provide service by publication as a substitution for personal service of process “[u]pon a defendant who cannot be found after diligent efforts or who by concealment seeks to avoid service of process.” D.C. Code § 13-336(a).

As stated in the Motion and the Affidavit, Plaintiff had “numerous failed attempts to contact Bettye J. Bobo,” as detailed in the Affidavit, at a property where, upon information and belief, the Defendant resides. Upon consideration of this Motion and Plaintiff’s efforts to serve Defendant Bobo, the Court finds the Plaintiff has satisfied the requirements of D.C. Code § 13-336, it is on this 5th day of March 2025, hereby

ORDERED that Plaintiff’s Motion for Alternative Service by Publication is GRANTED; and it is further

ORDERED that Plaintiff post this Order in a newspaper of public record in the District of Columbia, at least once a week for three successive weeks and in accordance with all other provisions contained within D.C. Code §§ 13-339 and 13-340; and it is further

ORDERED that Plaintiff shall mail this order to Defendant Bettye J. Bobo at her address: 210 Oakwood St, SE, Apartment # 102, Washington DC 20032; and it is further

ORDERED that the May 23rd, 2025, Remote Initial Scheduling Conference is

CONTINUED to June 27th, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. in Virtual Courtroom 318.
