VIRTUAL PUBLIC HEARING FOR THE

LEIGHTON AVENUE ACCESS RESTRICTION UNDER

CONSIDERATION in SILVER SPRING, MARYLAND

Pursuant to Section 49-53 of the Montgomery County Code (2004) as amended, a virtual public hearing shall be held on MONDAY, APRIL 28, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. The hearing will be held over the internet via Zoom. Residents may pre-register to testify; the link to join the public hearing virtually will be provided via email upon registration.

MCDOT has initiated the process to install a regulatory sign to restrict right turns from westbound Franklin Avenue to Leighton Avenue in Silver Spring, from 7:00 – 9:00 AM and from 4:00 – 6:00 PM Monday through Friday, pursuant to a request made by the residents of Leighton Avenue, in accordance with Executive Regulation 17-94AM, “Through Traffic Volume Access Restrictions in Residential Areas” (https://cmsinternet.mcgov.org/DOT-Traffic/Resources/Files/

The Public Hearing will be recorded. The recording will be available for viewing on the project website (QR code above) by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2025.

The sole purpose of a public hearing is to allow residents an opportunity to present oral and/or written testimony concerning the project. The information presented may influence the final decision to grant or deny the requested access restriction. The hearing will begin at 7:30 p.m. and run through 9:00 p.m.

WRITTEN TESTIMONY CARRIES THE SAME WEIGHT AS ORAL TESTIMONY. Written testimony for consideration and questions may be submitted via the online comment form on the project webpage (QR code above) or via email to the project manager, Kadidja Ayeva at Kadidjatou.Ayeva@montgomerycountymd.gov.
