FAIRFAX COUNTY NOTICE

Public hearings before the Board of Supervisors of Fairfax County, Virginia, to be held in the Board Auditorium of the Fairfax County Government Center, 12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax, Virginia 22035, at which time the Board will consider the following:

4:30 p.m. Pursuant to authority granted by Virginia Code Ann. §§ 15.2-107, 27-97, and 27-98 the Board of Supervisors of Fairfax County, Virginia, proposes to amend Chapter 62 of The Code of the County of Fairfax to bring it into compliance with the 2021 Virginia Statewide Fire Prevention Code which became effective January 18, 2024. The Board of Supervisors also proposes to add a section to Chapter 62 regulating operation, storage, and maintenance of powered micromobility devices, adding an exception to Section 308.1.4 to cover devices allowed under the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code, and adopting a new section, §5604.2.1, covering prohibiting storage or display of explosives and blasting caps in wholesale and retail stores. In addition, the Board of Supervisors proposes the addition of Subsection 104.1.2 – Authority for Enforcement of Fireworks Provisions by Persons Other than Technical Assistants to the Fire Marshal. This subsection would authorize officers of the Fairfax County Police Department to enforce the provisions of Section 5601.1.1.3 – Fireworks – both within the geographical boundaries of Fairfax County and on all properties owned by Fairfax County that are located outside the County’s territorial limits. The Board of Supervisors further proposes changes to the numbering, wording, and punctuation of the Ordinance. The Board of Supervisors has also proposed two new flat fees of $195; one for permits for micromobility devices and the other for permits for processing and extraction facilities.
4:30 p.m. Pursuant to authority granted by Virginia Code Ann. §§ 15.2-107 and 27-97 the Board of Supervisors of Fairfax County, Virginia, proposes to amend Appendix Q of The Code of the County of Fairfax to add a section for fees associated with plan review and inspections performed outside of business hours to $208.00 per hour.
