NOTICE is hereby given that a meeting of the Fairfax County Planning Commission a public is to be held in the Board Auditorium of the Fairfax County Government Center, 12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax, Virginia 22035.
The Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on a proposed amendment to the Zoning Ordinance of the County Code to consider proposed changes to the permissions, standards, and definitions for electrical substations and other light utility facilities, which are advertised by reference. The changes as specifically set forth in the staff report may include, without limitation: (1) revising the permissions for light utility facilities and adding a table reflecting those permissions; (2) deleting the provisions relating to new utility poles with attached facilities; (3) revising the standard for exemptions of light utility facilities from Zoning Ordinance regulations; (4) adding use-specific setbacks and screening standards for electrical substations and removing electrical substations from requirements for transitional screening and barriers; (5) removing the prohibition of the repair or servicing of equipment; (6) adding noise study requirements; (7) revising the standard for review of alternative locations; (8) revising the definition for light utility facility; and (9) providing clarifications, and making other organizational and editorial revisions.
After the hearing, the Commission may make appropriate changes in the ordinance or proposed amendment.
