Proposed Wildlife Regulation Amendments

The Virginia Board of Wildlife Resources, pursuant to §§29.1-103, 29.1-501, and 29.1-502 of the Code of Virginia, has proposed the below amendments to the Commonwealth’s regulations. Comments can be made at the October 23, 2025 meeting of the Board, 9:00AM at 7870 Villa Park Dr., Suite 400, Henrico, VA 23228 (comment sign up information will be posted here: https://dwr.virginia.gov/meetings/). After hearing public comment on the final proposed amendments, those passed by a vote will have an anticipated effective date of January 1, 2026. For details regarding proposals, see https://www.dwr.virginia.gov/regulations/. The following regulations are proposed for amendments:

4VAC15-20-100. Prohibited use of vehicles on department-owned lands.

4VAC15-20-110. Refusal to surrender licenses, permits, stamps, or records to department representatives.

4VAC15-20-155. Camping on Wildlife Management Areas and other department-owned or department-managed lands.

4VAC15-20-160. Nuisance species designated.

4VAC15-20-210. Definitions; nonindigenous aquatic nuisance species.

4VAC15-30-10. Possession, importation, sale, etc., of wild animals.

4VAC15-30-40. Importation requirements, possession, and sale of nonnative (exotic) animals.

4VAC15-35-80. Permit procedures.

4VAC15-40-200. Restricted use of above ground body-gripping traps in excess of five inches.

4VAC15-40-260. Sunday hunting on controlled shooting areas.

4VAC15-40-280. Department-owned, controlled, or managed lands; annual permit for hunting on lands managed by the department.

4VAC15-90-280. Sale of cervid parts and cervid mounts.
