NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

CITY OF FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA

Notice is hereby given that the City Council of the City of Fairfax will hold a public hearing at its regular meeting on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. in City Hall Annex, Room 100, 10455 Armstrong Street, Fairfax, Virginia, 22030, for the following:

An ordinance amending Chapter 54 (Offenses and Miscellaneous Provisions), Article I (General), Section 54-4, of the City of Fairfax, Virginia, pertaining to the prohibition on the possession, carrying or transportation of firearms, ammunition, or components or combination thereof, in City buildings or facilities, on public property or at permitted public events. (This proposed ordinance would align the City’s existing regulations prohibiting firearms in specified locations to more closely match those in Fairfax County, by adding a prohibition where City-permitted events are occurring (and surrounding areas) and increasing the penalty for violations, as well as some technical amendments.)

Public hearing and Council action on an ordinance amending Chapter 66 (Personnel), Article II (Retirement Plan for General Employees), Division 7 (Benefits on Termination of Employment), Section 66-167 and Article III (Retirement Plan for Public Safety Employees), Division 7 (Benefits on Termination of Employment), Section 407 regarding the treatment of accumulated contributions for non-vested participants.
