4:00 p.m. Public hearing to consider proposed revisions to the Comprehensive Plan for Fairfax County, VA. Plan Amendment (PA) 2021-IV-LP1 concerns the Lorton-South Route 1 Community Planning Sector and Suburban Center, an area comprised of approximately 3,200 acres in the Mount Vernon Supervisor District. The subject area is located in southeast Fairfax County and bounded by Accotink Creek on the north, by Fort Belvoir Main Post and Old Colchester Road on the east, by Furnace Road on the west, and by the Occoquan River on the south. The area is planned for residential uses in areas designated as Suburban Neighborhoods and Low-density Residential Areas, a mixed-use town center surrounding the Lorton VRE station, retail shopping centers, and industrial areas. The amendment will consider updating the Comprehensive Plan guidance to allow for a land use framework centered around a mixed use core area east of I-95 and five activity nodes with recommendations for mixed-use redevelopment, including additional housing and employment activity. Recommendations for urban design, placemaking, and mobility enhancements are also proposed. Changes are also proposed to the Transportation Plan Maps, including but not limited to the revisions to the street network, extension of the Richmond Highway Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) from Fort Belvoir to the Occoquan River, and addition of BRT stations in the study area. 4:00 p.m. Public hearing to consider proposed revisions to the Comprehensive Plan for Fairfax County, VA. Plan Amendment (PA) 2022-III-BR1 concerns approx. 3,029 ac. generally located around the confluence of Interstate 66, Route 28, and Route 29 in the Sully Supervisor District. The area is planned for a mix of uses organized around a higher-density Suburban Center near major transportation corridors and surrounded by lower-density Suburban Neighborhoods that transition to adjacent residential areas. The amendment will consider updating Comprehensive Plan guidance to allow for an increase in mixed-use development potential including housing across six proposed opportunity areas. New Plan recommendations emphasize design, mobility, and development flexibility. Recommendations relating to the transportation network may also be modified. 4:30 p.m. Citizens and businesses of Fairfax County are encouraged to present their views on issues of concern. The Board will hear public comment on any issue except issues under litigation, issues which have been scheduled for public hearing before the Board (this date and future dates), personnel matters, and/or comments regarding individuals. Each speaker may have up to three minutes and a maximum of 10 speakers will be heard. Speakers may address the Board only once during a six-month period.
