VIRTUAL PUBLIC HEARING FOR

WASHINGTON GROVE CONNECTOR TRAIL PROJECT

in WASHINGTON GROVE, MARYLAND

Pursuant to Section 49-53 of the Montgomery County Code (2004) as amended, a virtual public hearing shall be held on THURSDAY, OCTOBER 1, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. The hearing will be held online via Zoom. Residents may pre-register to testify; the link to join the public hearing virtually will be provided upon registration.

The Washington Grove Connector Trail project will result in a shared-use path from the terminus of Brown Street in Washington Grove to the terminus of Crabbs Branch Way. The proposed 850-foot-long, 10-foot-wide trail will provide a paved connection for pedestrians and cyclists from Washington Grove to destinations and transit hubs, including the Shady Grove Metro station. This important connection is identified in the 2006 and 2021 Shady Grove Sector Plans and the 2021 Shady Grove Sector Plan Minor Master Plan Amendment.

The Public Hearing will be recorded. The recording will be available for viewing on the Project Documents tab of the project website by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 2, 2026.

The sole purpose of a public hearing is to allow residents an opportunity to present oral and/or written testimony concerning the design of the project. The information presented may influence the final design. The hearing will begin at 6:30 p.m. and run through 8:30 p.m.

WRITTEN TESTIMONY CARRIES THE SAME WEIGHT AS ORAL TESTIMONY. Written testimony for consideration and questions may be submitted via the online comment form linked on the project webpage under the “Participate” section or via email to the project manager, Jean Kapusnick, at Jean.Kapusnick@montgomerycountymd.gov. Interpreter services will be provided upon request with at least (5) business days' advance notice. Please contact Lori.Main@montgomerycountymd.gov to request interpreter services by Wednesday, September 23, 2026.
