TITLE: Database Engineer

EMPLOYER: CGI Technologies and Solutions Inc.

DUTIES: CGI Technologies and Solutions Inc. has multiple openings for the position of Database Engineer, and the job duties are as follows:

- Establishes database management systems, standards, guidelines and quality assurance for database deliverables, such as conceptual design, logical database, capacity planning, external data interface specification, data loading plan, data maintenance plan and security policy.

- Documents and communicates database design.

- Evaluates and installs database management systems.

- Codes complex programs and derives logical processes on technical platforms.

- Builds windows, screens and reports.

- Assists in the design of user interface and business application prototypes.

- Participates in quality assurance and develops test application code in client server environment.

- Provides expertise in devising, negotiating and defending the tables and fields provided in the database.

- Adapts business requirements, developed by modeling/development staff and systems engineers, and develops the data, database specifications, and table and element attributes for an application.

- At more experienced levels, helps to develop an understanding of client's original data and storage mechanisms.

- Determines appropriateness of data for storage and optimum storage organization.

- Determines how tables relate to each other and how fields interact within the tables for a relational model.

LOCATION: Fairfax, VA (and various unanticipated locations throughout the U.S.)

REQUIREMENTS: Must have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field, plus 5 years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the IT consulting services industry.

Must have 3 years of experience in each of the following:

- Using SQL and TSQL to query, manage, and manipulate data within relational database environments;

- Using Python to conduct data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL), automation, analysis, and integration with databases and data pipelines;

- Working with SQL Server to store, manage, and secure data;

- Designing and implementing interactive dashboards, reports, and data visualization using Tableau;

- Building Data Warehouse, Data Lake, and Data Stores to capture, retrieve, and clean data;

- Evaluating data processing interfaces, system limitations, and platform capabilities to support data integration and analytics needs;

- Designing and developing ETL solutions;

- Performing data analysis, data integration, data migration, and production deployment;

- Creating system design specifications or database specifications; and

- Working within Agile methodologies.

Telecommuting permitted up to 60% from assigned location.

Must be willing to relocate to various unanticipated work locations throughout the U.S.

OFFERED WAGE: $184,184.00 per year
